Employment

Her Majesty’s Theatre operates principally as a venue for hire. We do not produce any of the shows that play here. Consequently, we do not employ the actors, musicians or stage managers who work on productions – these personnel come with the production.
We do employ backstage crew as well as Front of House staff and bar / function staff.
For further information about any specific positions available at HMT or general work within the various departments, please see below.

Current Positions Available

There are currently no specific positions available at HMT.

Technical Staff

All technical staff at Her Majesty’s are employed on a casual basis. We have a substantial roster of staff to call on for productions so available positions are rare.
If you have previous experience working backstage in a lyric theatre and would like to make yourself known to us, please send an email, with a CV or resume attached, to our Technical Manager at matthew@hmt.com.au.

Front of House

Front of House staff are employed on a casual basis. It is usual that Front of House staff do not work every show in a season. Some staff may only work one or two shifts a week; some may work more. Availability for Wednesday matinees is a particular asset. Some previous Front of House experience in a large theatre is preferred but full training is given prior to staff commencing work. Front of House staff must be aged 18 or over as they work in an area of the building covered by a liquor licence.

Bars and Functions

Bar and hospitality staff are employed on a casual basis. Staff must have some previous experience in this area. Availability for Wednesday matinees and weekend evenings is advantageous. All bar and hospitality staff must be aged 18 or over and should have a Responsible Serving of Alcohol certificate.

Box Office Staff

The Box Office at Her Majesty’s Theatre is managed by Ticketek and all staff are employed by them. If you have Box Office or ticket selling experience and are looking for employment, please contact Ticketek direct.

Administration

Her Majesty’s has a very small administration / management team and positions rarely become available. If we are seeking any administration staff, we will advertise and list the position under the Current Positions Available heading above. Apart from those instances, HMT does not accept unsolicited enquiries for administration positions.

Hearing Back Regarding Your Enquiry

While we will do our best to respond to all applications for employment, due to the large number of unsolicited enquiries we receive, it may not always be possible to reply to your correspondence. All enquiries we receive will be read and retained for future reference but you may not hear back immediately if there are no positions available at the time.
